On Tuesday, October 30, at 7:30 a.m. the Archangels will gather for breakfast in Sweeney Hall at St. Rita Church. The Archangels are members of the new Men’s Auxiliary for Catholic Charities of Dallas. The gathering will give me the opportunity to share my hopes for Catholic Charities in this diocese.
I am truly looking forward to the “Breakfast with the Bishop” event because it heralds the mustering of manpower to assist Catholic Charities in the work of Jesus among those in need. He has no hands but ours, you know, and think of how many more hands he will have to carry on His ministry.
The gathering will also be an occasion to discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead of us as we move forward into Pope Benedict’s “Year of Faith” marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council and the twentieth anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Both events call us to exercise the commission given to us at Baptism, to proclaim the Gospel in word and witness.
I encourage all Catholic men to become Archangels for fellowship and service in support of the mission of Jesus through the Catholic Charities of Dallas. Membership is free. Please sign up at www.ccdallas.org/archangels or phone 214-520-6590, ext. 126. Tickets for the Archangel “Breakfast with the Bishop” are $10 and may be purchased at the same website
